Arataki Trip by Nevan and Milan

On the day of our trip to the Arataki Centre Dennis, Simon and Stew showed us their forest. In the forest we saw a 600 year old kauri tree. Dennis showed us the tea tree and told us how people made tea from it .We got to plant some plants of our own. Dennis showed us the baby's room and there were no baby plants yet. He also showed us the sycamore seeds, a possum trap and a stoat trap. I thought that it was an insect house.  Dennis showed us the old volcano. Finally we went back to the bus and went back to school.

Our Trip To The Arataki Centre

On Wednesday the 19th of  February we went to the Arataki Centre. We went there on a bus.  We had morning tea as soon as we got there. We went on a bush walk to look at the plants and trees. We did a life cycle puzzle in the classroom. After that we had lunch. After lunch we planted seeds. My favourite thing was riding the flax horses and Barnaby's favourite thing was throwing the sycamore seeds in the air.  Finally we got on the bus and went back to school to go home. We had an amazing time!

Arataki Trip by Mikayla and Kate

On Wednesday the 19th of February we went on a bus to the Arataki Centre.

First we had morning tea. Then we went on the bush walk and our legs got tired of walking. We learnt that some seeds have wings so that they can travel far with the wind. Next we walked back up and had lunch. After lunch we went to the classroom and did a life circle puzzle of a Kowhai tree. We got all the pieces in the right place.  We also went to the nursery and planted some flax seeds of our own to take back to school. We had such an amazing time!!!
