Maui and the Sun by Imogen and Claudia

Once upon a time there lived a strong warrior called Maui. Maui had four brothers. One day he called them out to him. "The sun goes too fast across the sky and I don't get to eat my food", he said and the brothers agreed. So they made a plan.

Soon it was settled that they would creep out at night and follow the sun's powerful rays to it's sleeping hole. While it was still asleep they would catch it with some flax ropes.

So after they had made some flax ropes they set off on their  journey. As the sun was just peeking out of it's hole they ran out from behind some big rocks and threw the strong flax ropes over the sun and pulled with all their might. Maui beat the sun until the sun was black and blue all over. "Please let me go", moaned the sun. "Can't you see you are killing me?!"

They let the beaten and frightened sun go and now he creeps slowly across the sky and Maui and his brothers now have plenty of time to eat, fish and hunt.

Once upon a time there lived a strong and smart man named Maui. He was always  complaining about how the sun went too fast across the sky. He couldn't get any work done. So he called his brothers. Chit chat chit chat. They had a plan. 

Their plan was to make flax ropes to throw over the sun, then they would pull as hard as they could and let go and voila the sun would go slower.

In the morning when the sun began to come out of it's hole, Maui and his brothers threw the flax ropes over the sun and pulled and pulled. Maui then beat the sun until it was black and blue with bruises!! 

Maui said, "Let go!" So now the battered and frightened sun moved slowly across the sky because he didn't want Maui to hurt him again. By Mikayla

Maui and the Sun

Once upon a time there lived a brave, strong man called Maui. He lived with his four brothers in a hut.

One day Maui got very, very frustrated because the sun went far too fast and he never got time to  do anything. He called a family meeting  and told his brothers the problem that he was  determined to solve. Finally  they agreed that they would make flax ropes and catch the sun. 

When they had finished they went to search for the hole where the sun comes out. It took a while but finally they found it. When the sun came out Maui yelled, "Pull pull!!!" So Maui's brothers pulled and pulled and as for Maui he started to beat up the sun!! All the sun said was, "Stop, stop you will kill me! Can't you see I'm nearly dead?" "Let him go" said Maui. Now he won't go so fast.

  Maui and his brothers now had more time to do anything they wanted. And as for the sun he went more slowly in the sky because he was in terrible pain. THE END!!! by Kate

"Oh that sun, he goes too fast. Far too fast." Maui called his brothers. They came to him out of the darkness. ''That sun goes too fast,''said Maui. ''He gets up and races across the sky." "Yes" said his brothers. "I know, let's catch him" said Maui. His brothers laughed at him. "We can't catch the sun", said his brothers. Yes. We can. We will make flax ropes. When the ropes were ready, Maui and his brothers set off to find the hole where the sun came out from. Maui told his brothers to put the ropes across the hole. When the boiling sun came out of the deep hole, over the seas and hills, Maui called "Now!" His brothers pulled at the ropes with all their might and the sun tried to burn the ropes but could not get free. Maui began to beat him up then he called his brothers to stop. They let go of the ropes and the sun slowly flew away. By Emerson.

Hi I am Tai and I am going to tell you some secrets about Captain Underpants. He is called the whistband warrior. He has super powers and no-one can take them away.There are 11 books and I've got all of them! Right now I'm reading the 10th book. I love Captain Underpants, do you? George and Harold are Captain Underpant's friends! I'm going to tell you some parts of the books.  Here are who Captain Underpants battled! He battled Tippy, Dr Dipper, Talking Toilets, Bionic Boogers, aliens and himself!

Our Weekend By Claudia and Emma

On Friday we drove to the Sands Motel. It took two  and a half hours. When we got there I put my bag away then I went for a swim in the sea. Me and Jake went to get our boogie boards.  I went in the sea with Ruby, Lucy and Yasmine. It was an awesome weekend. By Emma

On Sunday I went to flipaball. It was at Dio. Our team was called White.  The other team was called Blue. We got in the pool then a man blew a whistle for the game to start. In flipaball you can not walk with the ball. You are not allowed to push the ball down to the bottom of the pool either. You can swim with the ball or throw it to someone in you team. If you are close to your goal you can try to throw it into the goal past the goalie. After the game you get out of the pool and go to the team coach and you get some lollies and the coach gives out a player of the day trophy to one of the team. By Claudia

My Week at a Beach House By Eli

Last week I went to my friend's bach. When  we got there we played my new angry bird game. 

The next day we went in the kayaks.  First we went under the car bridge and then we saw a pukeko. We followed the pukeko  into the sea. We went out so deep that we found a rock pool. Then we had to go back for dinner. 

The next day we got up, had our breakfast and went outside and played cricket Next we went inside and played my angry bird game again. After that we had dinner and went to bed. I stayed up so late that I finished my 13 story treehouse. Finally we had to leave. On the way back we had a big reststop and then we went home. The end. By Eli

Wonderstone and Obsidian by Nevan

On Wednesday Sussane gave me some wonderstone and some obsidian. I was so amazed! The wonderstone feels so smooth. You can make lots of different things with it like stone houses. Sometimes you can even make stepping stones with it. Sussane has got lots of different minerals and rocks. Wonderstone can be found on Great Barrier Island. You have to go there by boat. I have no idea where you find it on Great Barrier Island though! You can try it yourself if you want to. Obsidian can be smashed but you can't smash it with your hands. It is a very hard thing to get. It is made by boiling hot lava going into cold water. You can find it in Australia.  Sometimes you can get it in New Zealand but not always! By Nevan   

Nevan's Leaf Bug

On Thursday I went to the senior playground and I saw Eli. He helped me make a bug made out of leaves. I got some leaves then I got some flax and joined them together. Hopefully I will finish it  soon. I will put sticks on it for the legs and maybe red berries for the eyes. It will look so cool. Maybe I will do patterns on it with a sharpie pen to make it look even more awesome. I will attract bugs into a bug house, that I haven't made yet and lock them in it. So I will need to study some bugs. by Nevan.   

Preparing for our ALOHA stall

The theme for the Room 15 Aloha night stall was THe Wild, Wild, West. The stall was a sausage sizzle stall. Nevan's dad made a really cool cactus and Eli's mum painted it. We put lots of wanted posters all over the stall. We, with the help of Room 9,were the stars of these posters.

Our job was to dress up as olden day cowboy gangs. We had some costumes to choose from.

I chose a perfect costume! I looked in my costume box and I fond my old cowboy costume! I thought it would be a really good costume for cowboy photos. So I brought it to school and I was one of the first people to have a photo.


          

On Wedesday room 15 and              room 9 dressed up as cowboys for posters for our stall for Aloha night.We did it outside our class.

We had someone's toy horse to use in some of the photos. It was really soft and cute!
